# How to assign and change user roles in ShortPen

> Assign and change user roles in ShortPen. Manage Owners, Admins, and Users to control access across your organization.

**Short answer:** Go to **Settings → Organization → Team**, then either **Invite user** and set their role, or open an existing member to change their role. Owners and Admins can manage roles (Admins can’t remove the Owner).

## Before you start

* You’re an **Owner** or **Admin** in the Organization you’re managing. Admins can manage users but **cannot delete the Owner**.

## Manage the role of an existing user

1. Go to **Settings → Organization → Team**.
2. Select the user from the list to open their profile/permissions.
3. Switch **Make it administrator** **On/Off** to promote to **Admin** or revert to **User**.
4. Review **Workspace access** and adjust (grant **All workspaces** or specific workspaces).
5. Save your changes.

  “**Admin**” is for people who help you manage ShortPen (users, domains, workspaces). “**User**” is for people who just need to create/manage links inside the workspaces you allow.
